Mr. Black – A contemporary Count of Monte Cristo

“Goodbye, Mr. Black” is based on the webtoon with the same name, written by Hwang Mi-Na in 1983, which was been inspired by the French author Alexandre Dumas’s novel “The Count of Monte Cristo.”

Black and White, Love and Hate, Friendship and Betrayal are the symbols of this K-drama. The story of the drama is about the friendship between a wealthy guy Cha Ji Won or should I say Mr. Black (played by Lee Jin Wook) and his friend Min Seon Jae (played by Kim Kang Woo). We know Lee Jin Wook from “Nine: Nine Time Travels” and “The Three Musketeers.” Their friendship became past when Min Seon Jae decides to betray his best friend and due to his greed Cha Ji Won’s comfortable life will become a memory. He steals the heart and life out of his best friend family and chooses a way without return.

Mr. Black and Ms. Swan are the central characters of the “Goodbye Mr. Black” and together will become a vengeful couple. Cha Ji Won became Mr. Black and helped by Ms. Swan – an orphan girl (the character played by Moon Chae Won) starts plotting the revenge against his ex-best friend and the ones who help him. Moon Chae Won is well known from “The Innocent man” in which played with Song Joong Ki.

“Goodbye, Mr. Black” seems to be a drama with a typical story in which the disadvantage friend has a deep grudge against his wealthy friend who has everything: love, money, and power. Following this story, the life of the people involved is going to change dramatically.

The drama has all the elements to became a great one: famous story, handsome actors, and outstanding landscapes. Enjoy!
